What can I say!? Sally is fantastic and her advice/help has made a dramatic difference to my dog Onyx. Back in January this year my feisty Jack Russell had a bit of a temper tantrum and bit my neighbours ankle; not hard but he wasn't very nice, showing his teeth and snarling quite horribly. He was also very aggresive where food was concerned and rarely obedient to my requests. I had to get help and that's where Sally comes in. From just one quick phone call, advice was flying my way immediately in a kind, considerate and understanding fashion. People can get rather judgemental of naughty dogs but Sally was comletely the opposite. Thanks Sally! Sally came to my house and taught me how to understand doggy behaviour properly. This radically changed my relationship with Onyx and with a few months of hard work and being very disciplined with my terrier, I can honestly say we're on our way to being a much happier, settled and disciplined team. Onyx is calmer as a result of the training and I can certainly say that Sally's comprehensive and friendly service has been the main help to achieving this. We've still got a long way to go, but I feel more confident as a dog owner, plus with Onyx being much better behaved we actually get to enjoy each others company! Got doggy problems? Pet-behaviour.com is the place to come!

Last November we decided to get a Boxer puppy called Boo. She was beautiful but after a few weeks became very destructive. We couldn't toilet train her, she chewed the coffee table, lamp table, handles off cupboards, shoes she even managed to get on top of the dining table and pull off the fruit bowl, flowers, matts. Anything she could find she ate - including the telephone! She slept with us in our room just so we could get some sleep - half way through the night she would start crying so we'd let her on the bed. Boo is our first dog and we thought we were doing the right thing. We were actually making things worse for ourselves without realising it. We sought advice from the vet who told us to put her in a crate and that would help her. So we did this but decided after a couple of months that it wasn't fair and we didn't want her in a crate her whole life. We also presumed that she was now toilet trained so we took the crate away. Once we had done this the destruction and soiling started all over again. We put gates up around the house to protect belongings, nothing could be left out - even the matts off the table had to be put away and the kitchen bin put outside. I used to dread coming home, not knowing what I'd find. We even thought of giving her up because we just couldn't cope. I used to cry and cry at the destruction and the soiling on the carpet. I'd sit at work worrying about what she was doing. She had now also started to ignore us when on walks and wouldn't come back - she would even follow other people home! Then about 10 weeks ago, a friend of mine told me about Sally, so we called. Sally came round to see us and told us that Boo was suffering from separation anxiety and that it was totally fixable. After a couple of hours with Sally, it was so obvious - Boo was trying to be a pack leader because she didn't think we were strong enough to be, but it was a position that she didn't want, she wanted to be an underdog. The soiling was because she was scared when she was on her own and though we weren't coming back. Sally gave us a few pointers with our behaviour towards Boo because it was us making her act this way. It was partly our fault that Boo was anxious coupled with the fact she was locked in a crate with her sister 24/7 until she was 14 weeks old! (before we got her). Armed with this information we changed our ways and started doing extra training with Boo at home and out on walks - 6 weeks later she was a different dog. She was calm not destructive, not soiling in the house, but still sleeping in our bedroom. So we carried on with our 'new lifestyle' 10 weeks later, Boo is sleeping downstairs, the gates have all come down, she comes when she's called, she's happy, calm, confident and beautiful! What surprised us the most is how quickly she changed from a nervous dog who would be at your ankles no matter where you were, to a dog who happily sleeps in her bed, knowing that we're coming back to her. She's an underdog and a very happy one at that. We are so grateful to Sally - We now have our home back and a beautiful puppy who we love very much. We can't imagine not having her now. People always comment on how calm she is and how well trained she is and ask us how we did it - We tell them, "with a little help from a friend"........ Thank you Sally!

Hi Sally, Just wanted to send you an update on Maisie. Within 2 weeks she had completely changed and since then has turned into a gorgeous little cat. It seems strange that all those silly things we did made a difference! Still weird mind you, she still has little fizzy fits sometimes, but is obviously happy, and even goes up the garden. She is absolutely desperate to catch something, but we don’t think she ever has. She is just fat and looks beautiful! Anyway, she is delightful, very affectionate and both of them are marvellous with small children, which is a blessing. I reckon you literally saved her life! Take care and thanks again, with best wishes, Jenny Appleford
