Nicola Gladwell - 22 Jul 2010
Six years ago we brought home our beautiful whippet boy, Smudgie. He was our baby and we treated him as such. Then we added another whippet boy, Ronnie, to our family from the same breeder. A year later, I became pregnant and now we have a three year-old toddler and our two whippet boys. Over the past few years, we have seen Smudgie's behaviour deteriorate to the point where we were seriously wondering whether we would be able to keep him. A series of fights between him and Ronnie, each worse than the last resulted in Ronnie often at the vet's needing treatment for his injuries, agression towards our postman and anyone else encountered whilst out walking was leading to me dreading taking the boys out in case we might bump into another dog walker and constant 'concern' from relatives regarding the safety of our toddler. Things came to a head over a fight over a piece of stolen stilton. Ronnie had a nash to his head and needed stitches and Smudgie bit him with such force that his gum had to be stitched and a tooth removed. The vet suggested that we call Sally Ann. My husband and I were skeptical being 'dog-people' and me having read pretty much every dog training book going but we decided that anything was worth a go for our boys. Sally Ann came to our home and from the moment she walked through the door, I knew she would be able to help. She understood the boys like no-one I have ever met and her insight into our 'pack' was second-to-none. A month on from her visit and after sticking with her advice, the changes are miraculous - we have achieved harmony in our home and we are all enjoying our two gorgeous boys again. The DAP collars helped through the transition. The boys are more stimulated having mastered basic obediance commands and under supervision can even have their kong stuffed treats. The biggest difference for me is that I feel so much more confident around then and they seem so much for relaxed now they have the clear leadership they needed. Sally is there at the end of the phone and we are meeting again to move on to phase two of the boys programme. I can't thank her enough for her help and for allowing me to enjoy Smudgie and Ronnie again and would not hestitate to recommend her to anyone in need of help with their pets behaviour.

We were referred to Sally from our vet. Our 6 year old greyhound, Millie got spoooked one day when a low flying jet went over the house. After that, she got scared to go out and would freeze and shake with fear. We tried everything we could, including anti-depressants for her but in the end, we sought Sally's help. Sally did a thorough assessment of Millie and us and gave us an extremely comprehensive report with techniques to work on with Millie. Within 24 hours, as we were being more assertive, Millie began to respond. Over the next 4-5 months, Milile has continued to improve and is now enjoying her life again. She loves going out for walks again and on Sally's recommendation, we've found some doggie friends for her to walk with, which has also helped. We are very grateful for Sally's help, as we were really despairing, not knowing what to do with our dog, and how we could help her. We would definately recommend Sally. Thank you from Chris and Corah Carney and Millie. To see Millie 'before and after' please visit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYxPqXNSyEk

Hi Sally, Thanks for the very detailed report and as a family we have all decided to do what is best for Fizz so that her life becomes more canine and less human. A lot of the practices that you demonstrated to me I have continued when we have been together and already I can see that she is calmer and more responsive to my commands. She is very intelligent and around other dogs is happier and more confident because I am more positive in my behaviour whenever a 'situation' occurs and it is clear for all to see that this training regime must be followed. I would just like to say how impressed I was with your attention to detail, your enthusiasm to the task at hand and the clear love you have for your work and I have no hesitation is recommending you to all other dog owners who suffer similar problems. Flatcoats have a certain reputation for being a bit scatty for the first four years of their lives but they are so smart and responsive to all situations your assistance in letting me allow her to 'just be a dog' will impact on us for years to come. Thank you for making everything better. Kindest regards, Andy
