TOP TIPS - RECALLS

Coming when called! You must have the ability to recall your dog no matter what the situation or what other distractions are around. The best way to achieve this is to ensure that returns to you are rewarding and highly pleasurable experiences. It is essential that you NEVER punish your dog for returning to you no matter how long they take, what they were doing before (or how angry it made you). Have a happy high-pitched voice, clap your hands and make yourself as interesting as possible. When your dog returns to you, give lots of praise, a treat, a toy, a cuddle or tummy rub to reinforce the fact that you are really pleased that they have returned to you.
